Summary/Abstract: The Congregation of the Brothers of the Christian Schools (FSC), founded by St. John Baptist de La Salle, arrived in Slovakia in 1899 (in Mojmírovce). It carried out its work in the field of youth education and training for fifty years—until April 1950, when the order was effectively dissolved by the new totalitarian one-party regime (the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia, KSČ), which took power after 1948, although no official decree or law to that effect was ever issued. At that time, as part of Operation K2, raiding squads of armed militiamen from the ĽM (so-called People’s Militia), ZNB (National Security Corps), and members of the State Police (ŠtB), and gathered the brothers from Bojná, Mojmírovce, and elsewhere into the FSC novitiate monastery in Močenok (which later served other priests and eventually nuns as well). In this study, the author examines the attempt to revive the congregation in 1968–1969 and its subsequent full public restoration in the period following the fall of communism, the establishment of several communities in Slovakia, and the founding of two schools—a Church elementary school and a High school. The study addresses the challenging times following the fall of the totalitarian regime, the decimated state of the province in our territory, and the assistance provided by the Polish district.
