Summary/Abstract: The article presents the German Language Olympiad as a tool for developing intercultural and analytical competences. By combining advanced language skills with knowledge of history, politics and culture, the competition fosters critical thinking and media literacy. Special emphasis is placed on oral examination skills. The Olympiad supports young people in navigating a globalised world. It also promotes interdisciplinary learning and civic awareness.
