The European Union between Putinism and Trumpism

Summary/Abstract: For the European Union, Trumpism is the American face of Putinism.By abandoning the principles of international law, legitimizing the invasion of astate, which means replacing the rule of law with the law of force, disregarding the mechanisms of representative democracy in order to propose authoritarianism,presenting the member countries of the European Union as being in an identity and civilizational crisis from which they must be saved, Trumpism is similar to Putinism. The European Union has its problems, on which the two strands of European politics sometimes offer accurate assessments (environmental policy,progressive ideological dementia, poor management of migration, excessive bureaucracy), but the solution is not to abolish it, which would mean a return to the nationalist past that Europeans have already experienced in all its horror, but rather a reform that must lead to a United States of Europe.
