Summary/Abstract: The main topic of this article is the functioning of youth music (so-called big-beat music) in the Polish People’s Republic in the 1960s. The educational impact of the music offered was a significant context, as was the subjection to political pressure and the rules of party cultural policy. To this end, it was necessary to reconstruct the social situation and historical specificity in relation to the facts described. The methods employed included analysis of song lyrics, analysis of selected aspects of cultural policy, and examination of historical processes influencing youth culture.
