Summary/Abstract: There are 170 festivals in Poland devoted to forms of popular music (including jazz and electronic music). A large portion of these cyclical events have worked out a formula through which the program they present also displays the (aesthetic, ideological, conceptual) specificity of the event itself. This includes the relationship between the cultural content and the means of expression or organizational framework used in communicating these contents (the medium or institution), which is characteristic of all contemporary pop culture. Sometimes the medium or institution modifies the content or even creates it, with the Eurovision Contest being emblematic of this. The author calls this phenomenon the “tautology of pop culture” and assumes that it is universal in nature, that is, that it applies to more than just musical events such as festivals.
