THE CATEGORY OF DEVELOPMENT AND CHALLENGES OF THE PRESENT ERA

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the study is to reinterpret the category of development in the context of contemporary civilisational threats. The authors undertake a logical and semantic analysis of the concepts of development, progress, and growth, as well as of the categories based on them, in terms of their adequacy to the situation caused by the climate crisis and its derivatives. The conducted reasoning indicates that overcoming civilisational threats will require accepting changes in the social system, including directing the economic policies of more developed countries towards the global economy. The considerations draw attention to the usefulness of the concepts used in the theory and present possibilities for their reinterpretation.
