Summary/Abstract: In the interwar period, economic life worldwide went through several stages marked by common economic phenomena and problems, but also by aspects specific to each individual country. At the end of the First World War, economic activities were resumed, with each participating country concerned with economic recovery. After the Great Union of 1918, which consisted in the re-establishment of some Romanian territories in the Old Kingdom - Transylvania, Bessarabia, Bucovina (1918) and Banat (1919), the Romanian political class faced different economic and social structures. In this new context, the main challenge of the Romanian government was the economic and administrative integration of these regions, an objective that involved adapting to a complex and varied economic landscape, in which traditional economic structures and incipient forms of industrialization coexisted.
