Summary/Abstract: The source domains of the current metaphor in botany are varied and ensure the transparency necessary for the specialized communication. With the help of metaphors, the abstract becomes perceptible. The specialist has a certain cultural background that will allow them to achieve specific equivalences. The objective of this paper is to identify the source domains of the botanical metaphor in the present: titles of works, names of institutions, movie titles, names of famous characters, cultural events, everyday realities. These require a cultural background in order to be decoded. For example, "Lord of the Dance", "Giuseppe Verdi", "Black Parrot", "Cacharel", refer to cultural realities, they are emblems of this era. In the current stage of evolution, the botanical metaphor tends to redefine its sources. Some terms are used in Romanian, others in English or in French. The first conclusion that emerges is that the source domains for metaphor formation in the current stage are anchored in contemporaneity.
