Summary/Abstract: Stereotypes are simplified, classifying, limiting, and generalizing patterns of thought. These patterns always involve a central position and a target within their operational framework. Stereotypes, in this context, serve a dual function by characterizing both the central "we" group and the "target" position. This study aims to investigate the discursive reference points of gender stereotypes in Turkish through the oldest accessible sources. The research examines gender stereotypes in the Bilge Kağan Inscription, one of the ancient linguistic legacies of Turkish, analyzing the findings using a text-focused discourse analysis method. It explores how linguistic elements in the inscription shape gender stereotypes, how power relations and ideological structures are expressed through gender representations, and how these structures reflect gender roles. The study also addresses the roles associated with men and women, the transitions, differences, and similarities between stereotypes, and their influence on social hierarchy and leadership structures. The findings provide text-oriented insights into the historical tendencies of Turkish in forming gender stereotypes.
