Summary/Abstract: The construction of poetry is based on any internal motivation in the sensory world of its creator. The boundaries of the expressed sense world are classified in modern science as "sight, taste, touch, hearing and smell" according to their distinctive qualities. At this point, mental verbs can be expressed as a linguistic indicator of perception, cognition and mood expressions based on human psychology. Orhan Veli, one of the most important poets of Turkish literature, was not in favor of constructing the individual's feelings towards himself or towards all others according to the absolute requirements of any mold or artistic understanding. This approach also made him one of the pioneers of the Strange Movement. In this study, Orhan Veli's “Bütün Şiirleri”, one of the hundred basic works approved by the Ministry of National Education, is discussed. The data identified from the work are classified according to their types, referring to the functionality of mental verbs in the construction of the poet's own poems in particular, and the linguistic scientific field of action of the Turkish language on the subject in general. As a result of the study, it is understood that some mental verbs are used as elements in charge of forming meaningful units specific to the subject or person and that this relationship is established through other syntactic elements.
