The Spread of the Old Book Printed in Sibiu in Satu Mare County

Summary/Abstract: In our study, we tried to inventory the presence of the old book printed in the Sibiu printing center, on the territory of Satu Mare County. According to a work by university professor Doru Radosav, only 3% of the old Romanian book distributed on the territory of Sătmar was printed in Sibiu. The oldest of the books is an Octoechos (1761) followed by the Liturgy (1798), the Pentecostarion (1805), the Psalter (1805), the Gospel (1806), the Akathist (1807). The Special Collections of the Satu Mare County Library also preserve the well-known dictionary of Ioan Molnar-Piuariu, Wörterbucklein Deutsch und Wallachisches / Vocabularium nemţesc şi românesc, Hermanstadt (Sibiu), published by the privileged Printer Martin Hochmeister, where it was also for sale, 1822. We also paid attention to a last-minute donation, we could say, a book signed by Ioannes Daniel Heinrich, regarding the first Teutonic colony in Szathmar and Nemethi, a book published in the workshop of Martin Hochmeister: Prima colonia teutonica in Hungaria Szathmár et Némethi ex duobus privilegiis originalibus, nondum typis vulgatis, diplomatica illustrata. Dissertatio ad historiam Saxonum in Transsilvania spectans, Cibinii (Sibiu), 1822. We will also refer to two 17th century prints, present in the collections of the Satu Mare County Library, printed by Abrahamus Szenci: Carminum proverbialium, totius humanae vitae statum breviter delineantium; nec non utilem de moribus doctrinam jucunde proponentium; loci communes in gratiam juventis selecti. Cibinii (Sibiu), 1665 and Igaz hit, az az, Olly CCXLI Magyar Predikaciok, Mellyekben, A Kersztényi igaz Hitnek és Vallásnak minden ügazati ugy bé-foglaltatnak, hogy mind a Tanitók, s mind a Tanulók, mi legyen heindő vallások, és vallando hitek, elégségesképenmeg-tanulhattyák. We also sought to capitalize on the precious notes found on these prints; in several cases we managed to identify the Satu Mare owners, priests, cantors-teachers, etc.
