Summary/Abstract: In this article, the influence of the French Revolution and especially the Napoleonic Wars on present day western and north-western Romania is discussed. This assessment is based on recent scholarship exploring religious circulars and the appeals of various Church officials to support the war effort. These include: appeals for monetary contributions, the announcement new enlistments/recruiting, and condemnation of desertion. Several of these unpublished documents from local archives are discussed in greater detail.
