Summary/Abstract: Stress resulting from trauma is typically viewed as having negative consequences. However, this article argues that such outcomes are not exclusively negative. One possible consequence of trauma-related stress is posttraumatic growth, understood as a positive transformation within the individual. In her study, the author assumed that certain personality traits are necessary for such change to occur and therefore posed the following research question: What is the relationship between sense of coherence and the coping strategies used to manage stress? The study focused on sense of coherence and coping strategies in a group of 36 part-time pedagogy students. The findings confirmed, among other things, that positive reinterpretation and growth, a strategy associated with posttraumatic growth, positively correlated with sense of coherence, particularly with its comprehensibility component.
