Summary/Abstract: The report seeks to answer two questions. The first is whether the periodic claims about the opposition between the views of Dobri Hristov and Stoyan Djoudjeff regarding the meters in Bulgarian traditional music are justified. The second, caused by the first, is on what musical-theoretical basis Dobri Hristov stepped in the justification of the measure’s structure in those melodies whose metric organisation we now define as asymmetrical. The re-reading of Dobri Hristov also raises the question of how all this could be interpreted from the standpoint of our current understandings of the development of our scientific discipline.
