Some Ecological and Social Controversies of the Green Energy Transition in the Context of Sustainable Development

Summary/Abstract: The philosophy and the policy for the future development of the European society have been affected by the implementation of green transition in the members of EUs in the last few years. A strong focus on the reduction of the negative impact over environment, dealing with climate change and resource scarcity and promotion of the achievement for sustainable development have been prioritized. The sustainable development is perceived as a process of change where institutional changes, the exploitation of resources, investments and the direction of technologies and the transition to a green economy lead to the increase of the current and future potential of the regions. Unfortunately, despite of the high speed at which the processes run over, the effect of their implementation is questionable and opponents of the green transition are increasing. This raises the question: is sustainable development a utopia?
