Summary/Abstract: The outbreak of the war in Ukraine in February 2022 contributed to the redefinition of the European Union's policy towards Russia, but also led to an intensification of political relations with the Central Asian region, which is primarily rich in natural resources crucial for Europe, such as oil, natural gas, and uranium. The EU's policy towards the Central Asian region began to develop in a more systematic manner with the adoption of strategic documents in the first decade of the 21st century. Since 2022, in response to the changing geopolitical situation, there has been an increased interest both from the European Union and the Central Asian countries in deepening economic, energy, and investment ties, as well as in developing transport infrastructure. The importance of the Central Asian region in European policy is also evident in the development of new formats for high-level leader meetings and various initiatives. In the face of growing competition for influence in the region, the EU has a unique opportunity to strengthen its role in Central Asia.
