Summary/Abstract: Foundations for Sustainable Peace. Freedom of Conscience Between Ethics, Education and Social Responsibility. This paper explores the ethical and social foundations of freedom of conscience as a core element of human dignity and a key condition for sustainable peace. Drawing upon the philosophical frameworks of Immanuel Kant and John Rawls, the study connects classical notions of moral autonomy and justice as fairness with contemporary perspectives in business ethics, human rights, and corporate social responsibility. Through a conceptual–analytical methodology, it argues that the protection and cultivation of freedom of conscience are not only individual rights but also shared social duties that shape educational practices, organizational ethics, and civic coexistence. The research highlights the interplay between legal frameworks, ethical education, and corporate governance, proposing a coherent model of ‘conscience-based responsibility’ for democratic societies. Ultimately, the paper contributes to current interdisciplinary debates by showing that conscience is both a moral faculty and a social institution essential for human rights, education, and durable peace.
