Visions of foreign and security policy in Spain and Germany after 2022 in the context of their bilateral cooperation: an introduction to the research

Summary/Abstract: The article is focused on contemporary Spanish-German relations. After a brief overview of the background to these relations from the perspective of the last four decades, a comparison is made between the foreign and security policy visions of Spain and Germany. As a result of this research, the author concludes that contemporary relations between these countries are good, although their intensity has fluctuated over the last forty years. In many areas of international and security policy, Spain and Germany have similar positions, but there are also certain differences. The preliminary conclusions presented in the article can be a starting point for in-depth analysis of Spanish-German relations, especially in the context of changes on the German political scene that took place as a result of the Bundestag elections in February 2025.
