Szwejkiem – Haškowskie dystynkcje i agregat Szwejk
By Means of Švejk – Hašek-based Distinctions and the „Švejk-aggregate”

Summary/Abstract: The article presents an attempt to apply the category of distinction formulated by Pierre Bourdieu in the study of Jaroslav Hašek’s novel The Good Soldier Švejk and His Fortunes in the World War. Working with the theoretical background of sociology of literature, the author proposes to consider how Jaroslav Hašek and Josef Švejk function primarily in the extratextual areas of the literary field. To emphasize transcending the textual world and highlighting the fact that in social practice actors often do not follow the basic literary knowledge separating the author from the literary character, she formulates the theoretical tool of the Švejk-aggregate.
