Summary/Abstract: The Role of Interreligious Education in Promoting Human Rights and Sustainable Peace. This paper explores the role of interreligious education as a strategic tool for promoting human rights and sustainable peace. Grounded in key international normative frameworks - such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the 2023 UNESCO Recommendation, and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development - it argues that the effective protection of fundamental rights is deeply intertwined with educational approaches that value and integrate cultural and religious diversity through dialogue and inclusion. Special attention is given to the positive role of religions as moral frameworks that converge on the recognition of human dignity - an essential foundation for the full realization of human rights and responsibilities. The paper also examines the significance of religious leaders, sacred spaces, and symbols in fostering a shared culture of peace. Additionally, it analyzes the contribution of papal teaching, from Leo XIII to Leo XIV, emphasizing an integral vision of peace rooted in social justice, human dignity, and solidarity. The study concludes by underscoring the need for States, educational institutions, and civil society to implement coherent, inclusive policies that support peace education and the promotion of human rights through a religious lens, thereby contributing to the development of more just, inclusive, and sustainable societies.
