Summary/Abstract: The article presents the results of an online survey, the purpose of which was to study the role of the Russian language in Georgia. A total of 714 people were surveyed. The analysis of the results indicates a high social activity of the Russian language in Georgia. Georgian dominates in the "native language" category, yet, along with Georgian, respondents name Russian as their native language as well. The Russian-Georgian bilingualism shows high indicators. More than 50 % of the respondents read newspapers and magazines, search for information on the Internet and watch films and TV shows in Russian or in Russian combined with Georgian. In informal communication (communication within the family, with friends, neighbours etc.), a mixture of Russian and Georgian language ("Georgian language in Russian" and "Russian language in Georgian") is widespread. The influence of gender, age of respondents and other factors on the choice of language is noted. The Russian language in Georgia is in demand as a language of interethnic communication.
