Summary/Abstract: This paper intends to offer a perspective, among many complementary ones, that will contribute to shaping the personality of Professor Radu Ciuceanu. The choice of the subject was prompted by reflections over the past few years on the credibility deficit of recent Romanian politicians. Reading the political statements, legislative proposals, interpellations, and motions that Professor Radu Ciuceanu, as a Member of Parliament, has made during his parliamentary activity, a political model and a politician that I had not had the objective opportunity to discover in the recent political landscape were increasingly revealed to me. In his speeches in Parliament (2000-2004 legislature), Radu Ciuceanu appears to us as being deeply aware of his role of representative of the nation, emphasizing on several occasions the mandated quality of a politician. As a deputy, Radu Ciuceanu was a tireless fighter against the great corruption in Romania, conducting extensive investigations as chairman of the Chamber of Deputies' Commission for the Investigation of Abuses and Corruption. However, all this struggle was not motivated by mere vigilantism, by a revolutionary spirit of social justice but, in his own words, by a profound "love for the homeland." Alongside the issue of corruption, Radu Ciuceanu also tackled other subjects in the debates in Parliament, such as Romania's monetary policy and the national economy, recent history (both communist and post-communist), the Church and the nation, as well as social issues (salaries, international adoptions), etc. Flawless expression, studied yet unaffected phrasing, the balanced architecture of the exposition, without unnecessary constructions, critical analysis, complemented by vibrant excursions, often resorting to memory and recent historical reality, all these make the former deputy Radu Ciuceanu an exceptional orator in the Romanian Parliament. Radu Ciuceanu reveals himself to us, through readings and discussions, as an authentic politician, difficult to identify in the recent political landscape: erudite, distinguished, a fine reader of the signs of the times, deeply aware of his role as a representative of the people from whom he was molded and for whom he suffered, led by a strong spirit of justice against corruption and the inertia of the Romanian political class. Above all, however, he imposes the honesty that he has preserved with so many sacrifices, based on beliefs and strong values, which gave him not only moral stature but also a particular rectitude in his political career.
