Summary/Abstract: The sugar factory in Leśmierz experienced its golden years primarily owing to Władysław Boetticher, the long time director of a family business belonging to one of the most prominent industrial families of Łódź and its surroundings. The author of this article presents a biographical profile of Władysław Boetticher, who was an evangelical and a grandson of immigrants from the German lands, and yet a great Pole, a patriot, a soldier, and a high-ranking manager.
