Summary/Abstract: In Eastern church tradition, the Feast of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary experienced an organic development in the being of divine feast worship. The sources of study so far, coming from the field of Orthodox Liturgical Theology, are limited to the memory of the feast established either at the end of the 5th century (490) or at the beginning of the 6th century. A distinct and strictly related treatment only to the hymnography of the holiday is missing for now, so attempts are being made to fill this gap. The present study highlights only a part of the ritual of the holiday, namely the hymnography of the 8th century.
