Summary/Abstract: In the Eastern Church tradition, mariology is based on the belief that the Mother of God cannot be separated from her Son. Christianity, as a way of life and following Christ, was revealed progressively. Thus, it was fully revealed trough the Passion, Death, Resurrection and Ascension to Heaven of the Lord. The birth of the Virgin Mary opened the way for the coming of Christ. This mariological reality has led since the 5th century to a pronunced liturgical cult of the Mother of God. One of the elements of the cult is the feast of the Nativity of the Mother of God on September 8. The event of the birth of the Virgin mary is poetically depicted in the hymnography of the liturgical ensemble of the Feast of the Nativity of the Mother of God. Here we will show the evolution over time of this hymnography, highlighting the philological, historical, stylistic aspects and the presentation of the patristic source witch we believe served as a basis for the composition of the hymns.
