Summary/Abstract: Our health is, to a considerable extent, a mirror of the quality of our emotional life. Understanding that anger shortens our life, while optimism and relaxation provide a biological shield, transforms emotion management from a spiritual luxury into a fundamental medical necessity. The mind is not just a passive observer of the body, but an active architect of our health. Their research laid the foundation for what we now call mind-body medicine, demonstrating that training attention and managing emotions can modify brain structure and immune response.Research initiated in Dharamsala in 1991 has confirmed that the sense of control (Trust) and belonging (Connectivity) are not merely pleasant states, but biological necessities. Optimism acts as a shield that prevents the shutting down of immune genes, providing the body with the resources required to fight disease.
