Summary/Abstract: Linguistic diversity represents one of the most valuable components of humanity’s cultural heritage. However, globalization, migration, and sociopolitical transformations have accelerated the disappearance of many languages around the world. Thousands of languages are currently endangered, and many may disappear within the next decades. The loss of a language implies not only the disappearance of a communication system but also the loss of cultural knowledge, traditions, and identity. This paper examines the phenomenon of language disappearance, the importance of linguistic diversity, and the international efforts designed to protect minority languages. The study analyzes the causes of language decline, the cultural consequences of linguistic extinction, and the role of educational, political, and technological initiatives in language preservation. Special attention is given to international programs and institutional initiatives that aim to revitalize endangered languages and promote multilingualism in a globalized world.
