Summary/Abstract: The installation of the totalitarian regime in Bucharest, after the Second World War, will have noxious effects on the culture of the country, in general, a proof from this point of view being the appearance of the films with propagandistic character (Mister Lăzărescu’s Death, directed by Cristi Puiu, 2005, How I spent the End of the World, directed by Cătălin Mitulescu, 2006, Four Months, Three Weeks and the Two Days, directed by Cristian Mungiu, 2007, The Silent Weeding, directed by Horațiu Mălăiele, 2008, Memories from the Golden Epoch, directed by Cristian Mungiu, 2009). The researcher Alexandru Leo Șerban considers that the majority of the films which appeared after the year 1990, represent the image of the Romanian society from the first decade of the postrevolutionary period, when the directors live intensely the feeling of the freedom of expression, without comprising completely, however, the complexity of the socio-human relationships. A part of the Romanian filmmakers take, in a minetic way, the present ideas from the Western cinematography and for this reason the well-informed spectators reject these creations that lack in originality. On the other hand, there are numerous cinematographic productions from abroad that satisfy, obviously, the ideological commands, without having in view their axiologic criteria.
