Summary/Abstract: The study of the French influence on the Romanian language from a lexicographic, lexicological and semantic perspective is an extremely important approach, based on the fact that French has represented the main means of enriching and, at the same time, modernising the Romanian language. The study of the terminology of mineralogy aims at clarifying the specifics of this terminology and at identifying the characteristics of the specialised vocabulary in this field. The terminology of mineralogy contains a vast set of terms and, considering only the category of minerals and precious stones, we have found that many words have entered the Romanian language via French. Therefore, this article highlights the role that the French language has played in constituting the lexicon of mineralogy.
