Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to assess the extent to which the Hungarian Presidency, held by Budapest during the second half of 2024, contributed to increased interest in the country from Spain, one of the largest countries in the European Union. The theoretical inspiration for this approach is Nicolas Spykman's Rimland theory, with its central thesis of the unique importance of spatial edges in relation to geographical centers. The choice of Spain as a point of reference for Hungary is further supported by historical arguments and pragmatic considerations. This analysis focuses on three aspects: 1/ Hungary and European affairs; 2/ Hungary and the foreign policy of the European Union; and 3/ The overall image of Hungary in "ABC" during its Presidency of the Council of the EU. The quantitative and qualitative analysis of the materials presented by the Spaniards in the "ABC" daily leads to the conclusion that the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union significantly contributed to the Spanish interest in this Danube country.
