Summary/Abstract: The town of Caransebeş is recorded in the consciousness of the Romanian Orthodox Church as a veritable citadel of theological culture. Since 1865, there has been a Theological Institute in Caransebeş, which became a Theological Academy in 1927. Although higher theological education was abolished in 1948, teaching continued through the Theological Seminary in Caransebeş. It had illustrious professors who wrote books of high academic value and trained entire generations of priests, teachers, and people of culture in general. We can thus speak of a tradition, not only of piety, but also of theological and academic thought, which has influenced culture and society and given prestige and dignity to this area for 160 years.
