Summary/Abstract: This study examines the effects of agriculture-based mission differentiation on regional economic development in Bingöl province within the framework of geographically indicated products and branding dynamics. Within the scope of the Regional Development-Oriented Mission Differentiation and Specialization Project conducted by the Council of Higher Education, the university-local economy relationship is addressed using the example of Bingöl University, which specializes in agriculture and basin-based development. The study analyzes Bingöl's agricultural production structure, livestock potential, and the economic value of the agricultural sector using data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office, and relevant public institutions. It also evaluates the effects of geographically indicated products, particularly Bingöl honey, on regional branding and rural development. The findings show that mission differentiation focused on agriculture offers significant potential in terms of increasing added value, supporting employment, and enhancing regional competitiveness. The study offers recommendations for strengthening coordination among stakeholders to increase the effectiveness of the process.
