Summary/Abstract: This text presents a review by Fr. Daniel Alic of Mircea-Gheorghe Abrudan's extensive historical monograph, "The Orthodox Church and the Military Clergy in the Habsburg Monarchy between the Peace of Karlowitz and the First World War (1699-1914)". Originating as a meticulously researched doctoral thesis, the 523-page volume explores the largely unprecedented history of Orthodox military chaplains within the imperial army. The review highlights the book's four main syntheses: the Empire's political evolution, the institutional dynamics of its Orthodox dioceses, the structures of imperial military religious assistance, and the specific pastoral activity of Orthodox military priests. Ultimately, this exceptionally documented research fills a significant gap in both Romanian and international ecclesiastical historiography.
