Summary/Abstract: This text reviews the monograph "The Martyr Bishop Veniamin Nistor" authored by Casian Rușeț and Dorel Viorel Cherciu. Based on extensive archival research, the book details the life and activity of the sixth bishop of Caransebeș between 1941 and 1949. It highlights his administrative, pastoral, and philanthropic efforts during the difficult years of World War II and the rise of the communist regime. Furthermore, the volume explores his struggles to defend Orthodoxy, support monasteries, and organize eparchial life. Finally, it recounts his unjust monastic confinement by the Securitate in Alba Iulia, where he died in poverty before his remains were repatriated to Caransebeș in 2019.
