Summary/Abstract: The present study presents an aspect that generated some controversy at the time it produced its effects. It concerns the celebration of Easter according to the Gregoriancalendar, in the years 1926 and 1929, when the Romanian Orthodox Church gave up a centuries-old custom – the celebration of the Resurrection of the Lord according to the old Julian calendar. The effects generated are presented, both in the ecclesiastical world, but also in the political one. In Bessarabia, the eastern part of Moldova, the effects were completely undesirable, accentuating the state of tension in society. This study is based on an x-ray of the interwar press such as: "Adevărul", "Cuvântul", "Universul", "Renașterea", but also on the research conducted by Andreea Kaltenbrunner, "Modernization Struggles in Interwar Romania: Old Calendarists, Church and Government in Bessarabia in the 1930s" and Radu Petre Mureșan, "History of Stylism in Romania (1924-2022)".
