MAGIC – A SUPERNATURAL PHENOMENON OR PRIMITIVE RELIGION

Summary/Abstract: The earliest form of religion is magic. Various national and international specialists on the subject are discussed with their respective definitions. The types of spells are presented and analyzed. A counterpoint to the association with supernatural forces in magic is exorcism which still exists today. The influence of the supernatural on children is shown with the contribution of children's literature and the film industry. Emphasis is placed on the types of spells. The main qualificative division of spells is indicated: two subtypes: ceremonial and folk magic. The paper is also concerned with the attitude of the Orthodox Church towards magic, the role of atheism, the means of combating it and the reasons for its existence to this day.
