THE FLOWERS AND THE COLORS OF LITTLE IDA – TRANSFORMATIONS OF THE FANTASTIC

Summary/Abstract: This paper is interested in the specific use of the floral and visual code in texts dealing with the forms of the fantastic and its transformations – in H. Andersen's fairy tale “Little Ida's Flowers” and in the cyberpunk fantasy genre “Keffer. The Colors of Little Ida” by M. Fuchedzhieva, based on Freud's theories about the unconscious and those by T. Martin about the variants of the fantastic image.If in “Little Ida's Flowers” the soul soars in the world of pure imagination, and the death-resurrection metamorphosis is part of the fairy-tale world connected with the belief in miracles, and the dreams of the child; in “Keffer. The Colors of Little Ida” the hallucinations are a variant of looking into the abyss – a sign of a dystopian, pragmatic and a mechanized world, which has blurred the boundaries between the imaginary realities and the actual ones.
