Summary/Abstract: The story of Job, which describes the relationship between Man and God has many interpretations in works of art. There are more works in which this story is only an occasion to look for the archetypal codes of human relations with transcendence. In such a case we can talk about Job’s situation. After the Liberation of Bulgaria, it was introduced by Stoyan Mihaylovsky and appeared to be the most direct path to the existential universalization of Bulgarian literature. The object of this article are the problems of Job in Mihaylovsky’s work during the 80s and 90s of the 19th century.
