Summary/Abstract: The article attempts to highlight the specific features of the settlements in Dobrudzha, with a view to spiritual life and morality, as well as the influence of the town of Kotel. For this purpose, texts by Zahari Stoyanov, Vasil Drumev, Iliya Blaskov are used. These observations are projected into the work of Yordan Yovkov to clarify how the word "slog" (furrow) is replaced by the Greek word "synor" (boundary) and the attitude towards land is transformed from a cultural to a legal issue. For this purpose, the short stories "The Trial", "Enemies", the novel "The Farm by the Border" and others are mainly analyzed.
