How to Write About Violence in the Theatre?

Summary/Abstract: The article presents an analysis of Iga Dzieciuchowicz’s book Teatr. Rodzina patologiczna inthe context of other forms of writing about violence. The author contrasts Dzieciuchowicz’sjournalistic strategy with scientific and institutional strategies (developed in reports),treating all three as mutually complementary and interpenetrating tools of knowledgeproduction. The comparison of reportage, reports, and academic analyses makes it possibleto see how an increasingly specialized discourse on violence is taking shape within the fieldof theatre—from the collection of testimonies, through institutional diagnoses, to theoreticalreflection.
