Summary/Abstract: The article attempts to analyze the ways of understanding and interpreting the phenomenon of boredom in the context of selected theoretical concepts. The meaning of boredom is well known, widely used in literature and interpreted in various ways. At the same time, this phenomenon is characterized by great complexity and multi-aspect definitions. Many boredom ranges can be found in the literature on the subject – in Poland, there are adaptations of MSBN Fahlman, Mercer-Lynn, Flory and Eastwood (Michał Chruszczewski 2017) and BPS Farmer and Sundberg (Maria Flakus 2018). Although boredom is almost unequivocally defined as a phenomenon with a negative meaning, there are also few, although noticeable, references indicating boredom as a positive phenomenon. The occurrence of boredom in education is strongly highlighted, related to the inability to separate the form of teaching from the interest in the subject of the potential recipient.
