Summary/Abstract: The study offers a comprehensive art-historical and source-based historical overview of the architectural development and interior decoration of the Roman Catholic Church of St Nicholas in Horná Krupá from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. Drawing on canonical visitations, archival documents, and comparative analogies, the authors reconstruct the form of the Early Gothic church, the subsequent Renaissance reconstruction of 1566, and the extensive Baroque modifications carried out between 1741 and 1746. Special attention is devoted to the church furnishings, altar decoration, and the rich inventory of liturgical objects, all of which illustrate the gradual enhancement of the interior. The study also traces the major restoration of the church following the 1906 earthquake and the fresco decoration executed by Edmund Massányi in 1937, which represents an important chapter of regional sacred art. The result is a detailed account of the continuous architectural and artistic development of the church, regarded as the most valuable cultural monument in the village of Horná Krupá.
