Summary/Abstract: This paper examines the female perspective on ageing through the literary work of Slavenka Drakulić, with a particular focus on the collection Invisible Woman and Other Stories. Although women constitute a significant proportion of the population, they often remain “visibly invisible” due to marginalisation within political, economic, and social contexts. This invisibility is especially pronounced among older women, who experience double marginalisation at the intersection of gender and age. Drawing on a feminist gerontological perspective and an analysis of cultural representations of ageing, the paper explores how social norms shape the identity, social position, and perception of older women. The analysis links the literary narrative to broader social, cultural, and economic frameworks and reflects on possibilities for empowerment and increased social visibility of older women, highlighting the need for a more just and inclusive society.
