Summary/Abstract: The military clergy is composed by military priests, who belong to both the clergy of a religious cult and the Armed Forces Officer Corps. For criminal offences, as defendants, they are subject to the jurisdiction of the military judicial courts. Ordinary military priests are subject to the ordinary first-instance personal criminal jurisdiction of the military tribunal (the first level of military judicial courts), while military priests who are heads of the Religious Assistance Sections of the Ministries of National Defense and Internal Affairs, who are assimilated to 1-star brigadier generals, are subject to the first-instance jurisdiction of the military court of appeal (the second and final level of military judicial courts).
