Summary/Abstract: According to Article 14 of the Romanian Constitution and the case law of the Constitutional Court, the European Convention on Human Rights and the case law of the European Court of Human Rights are directly applicable in the Romanian domestic legal order as sources of national law and enjoy supremacy, being integrated into the Romanian constitutional framework. The supreme form of reception of European conventional and jurisprudential human rights law in Romanian law is constitutional revision, generally indirect, following developments in European case law, but sometimes leading to direct constitutional revision in order to ensure the compatibility of the Constitution with European sources of human rights law and case law.
