Summary/Abstract: The almost complete emigration of the German minority from the end of the 1960s and especially immediately after the political change in 1989 cannot be equated with the end of German-language literature in Romania. The few German-speaking male and female authors in Romania create images of German minority existence in the Romanian cultural area despite the lack of an organised literary scene. The German-speaking authors still living in Romania today – Eginald Schlattner, Joachim Wittstock, Carmen Elisabeth Puchianu and Balthasar Waitz – are confronted with a small number of male and female readers. In addition, there is a lack of critical reception of these writers in this country because too few of their texts have been translated into Romanian.
