Summary/Abstract: Wagner’s first novel deals with social and political conflicts. The core of the novel entitled Habseligkeiten consists of the Swabians’s destiny of the Banat region in Romania during the period between the two World Wars and after World War II. The novel Belüge mich shows the continuity of the power structures in the Romanian capital from the 1930s to the 1990s. A similar theme can be traced in Miss Bukarest, but it was restricted to the moments after 1989, that year being considered a major political turning point. The novel Das reiche Mädchen depicts the end of a multicultural world.
