Summary/Abstract: The article examines aspects of the theology of St. Maximus the Confessor, with an emphasis on his ascetic views and the deification of man that have been unfolded in his teaching. The short biography aims to indicate the historical reality in which the saint lived and worked, the specifics of the heresies in the specified period and the difficulty of fighting them. The theological views of St. Maximus the Confessor, inextricably linked to the patristic tradition, are examined in the context of his personal original contribution. Known as one of the founders of Byzantine theology, he is one of the categorical authorities who developed Christian philosophy and theology, setting his own concepts and definitions.
