Summary/Abstract: This article is a review of Iwona Rusek’s book titled Stanisław Wyspiański. Mit – tradycja – historia [Stanisław Wyspiański: Myth – Tradition – History], in which the author analyses three plays: Wesele, Warszawianka, and Noc listopadowa. Published by the Institute of National Remembrance, this publication is intended not only for the restricted circle of academic literary scholars, so the review’s argument is based on the dual role of the book’s reader. Substantive comments and reservations are presented on behalf of the critic assessing the work as a scholarly work in the strict sense, but the review also highlights the book’s immense merits in popularising knowledge about Wyspiański and in providing lessons in the in-depth reading of the challenging plays from the period of Young Poland.
