Summary/Abstract: The article proposes an analytical approach to certain exile diaries belonging to the Romanian writer Sanda Stolojan. The choice of this theme is motivated by a personal interest in the question of exile, an area explored after 1989, with the publication of the works of writers politically exiled under totalitarianism. Any reading of the literature on exile can provide a different, more nuanced perception, beyond the convergence of the fundamental aspects of the theme. My intention is to achieve a brief perspective on the historical context that generated the exile and to analyze the problem of exile in diaries and memoirs. As methods of analyzing the texts, I attempted an approach from different perspectives, alternating bio-bibliographic historical interpretation, partly psychocritical, theories of exile with comparative analysis and cultural study, in order to preserve a global vision of exile and its problematic consequences. The premise of this study is that aspects of history can be found in one form or another in diaries and memoirs, as history insinuates itself almost imperceptibly into creation, turning it into a document of the respective era. The hypothesis that the work does not ignore the historical context is confirmed: it possesses a universal vocation through the universality of the archetypal human experience re-actualized by each individual in the context of his time.
